The Italian media are now reporting that Alessandro Del Piero has revealed the secret to his success at the Italian national team.
The 34-year-old, who has played for Juventus since 2010, has said he is “very proud” of his ability and has already told his team-mates that they should aim to be “better than this”.
The former AC Milan, Milan Brugge and Inter Milan star is a player who has become very popular in Italy, and has even been linked to a move to Barcelona, according to reports.
Del Piero told reporters at a press conference at the Estadio Olimpico in Turin that he was “very happy” to be playing for his national team and was excited to play alongside his team mates.
“I am really happy, the way things are going, I have a good feeling, because of my teammates, my coaches and everyone,” Del Piera said.
“This is the best moment of my career, because we are in the World Cup, I’m really looking forward to this.”
Now I have to play with my teammates and try to be better than this.
“The Italian press are reporting that Del Pieros ‘coveted the ball’ to score against Barcelona in the last 16 of the 2010 World Cup in Brazil.
The player was not allowed to leave the field before the game due to a medical condition, and the Italian press say he was not in good enough condition to play in the semi-final against Brazil.
Del Richeo, who is still very young, has a history of being a popular figure among fans of his country, as he is currently the second highest paid player in Serie A, behind only Juventus’s Leonardo Bonucci.
He also has been linked with moves to Barcelona and Bayern Munich, and is set to be one of the most expensive players in the world when he signs for Barca next summer.
