Amazon has cut the price of its ny-focused programs to make room for its other offerings, including a program that focuses on the arts.
The $1,000 tuition fee for the New York-based e-commerce giant’s e-learning platform Way2Go has dropped to $2,000 from $1-2,500 in the last year.
Amazon has not commented on why the program has been dropped.
“We’ve seen some of the best graduates in the world graduate with their diplomas,” said Jeffrey Lohman, vice president of digital, education and workforce development at Amazon.
“But at the same time, we’ve also seen some very talented students who are not working at Amazon.”
Way2Go, launched in 2011, is a $1.6 billion program that brings together some of Amazon’s top instructors and scholars to provide courses in subjects like animation, video game design, dance and music production.
The program has seen an influx of students and instructors from around the world who have earned degrees at the company.
Amazon’s $1 million Way2Goes are offered in the New Jersey, New York and California areas.
The programs are designed for people who want to learn from people who have made a difference in their lives, said Way2go’s founder and CEO Michael Bauza.
The New York program, called The Artist’s Path, focuses on people who are interested in creating.
It was created by the New Yorker-based Bauzza and other members of his team.
The courses cover a range of subjects including fashion, food, fashion design, and food science.
The program was created to give aspiring artists and designers a place to get their work noticed by the likes of Amazon and Google, Bauzas said.
“There are some of these people that are trying to create something that they think would have never happened before,” he said.
“We want to give them a chance to show that they can be a part of something really big.”
The New Yorker program is open to anyone who has a background in the arts, and has a passion for helping people achieve their dreams.
It is part of Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) “Artist’s Path” initiative.
Way2go students can also choose to take courses in other areas of art, music, design, fashion and design production.
Bauzeras said there are more than 300 classes across five regions of the country, from New York to California.
“In order to have a better understanding of what we have, we need to know what other people are doing,” he explained.
“This is a great opportunity for people to get out and explore different creative ways of working, because there’s a lot of people who aren’t doing it right,” he added.
Way1go, a $2.9 million program, is aimed at those who are passionate about creating.
The New York company created the program in partnership with The University of The Netherlands.
Its curriculum includes courses in digital design, illustration, and video games.
Way0g has students who want a more hands-on approach to learning, said co-founder and CEO Jonathan Riddell.
He said the programs focus on people with an entrepreneurial spirit.
“For some of our students, we see them as a stepping stone to a future that is really going to be really different from what they’re currently doing,” Riddells said.
Amazon has more than a billion dollars invested in education, and Riddel said the company is committed to giving students a place at the top of its educational pyramid.
“As we continue to invest, we want to ensure that our students have a quality education, as well as that they have a future in this industry,” he told The Hill.
